We’re Kate and Katie — two Midwestern girls who met at the University of Minnesota and never stopped talking about food. KOTA is a mix of our names (Kate + Katie) and the place where it all started (Minnesota).

Food has always been at the center of our lives. Katie studied Food Science in college, started her career in the dairy industry, and now works in food E-commerce. Kate got her start at a fast-paced food startup, built her own private chef business, and now works for a major food distributor. Between us, we’ve worn a lot of hats in the food world (and had way to many food samples at trade shows) but what brought us together for KOTA was the idea of reimagining something classic and close to home.

Cottage cheese has been part of our kitchens (and our Midwest upbringing) for as long as we can remember. We loved the protein and the nostalgia, but the lumpy tub always seemed stuck in the past. KOTA grew out of a simple question we kept asking each other: what if cottage cheese could be creamy, flavorful, and exciting — a base for dips, spreads, and sauces that you’d actually reach for again and again?

That’s how KOTA came to life. We took a simple classic, cottage cheese, and transformed it into smooth base perfect for dips, spreads, and sauces — blended with clean ingredients and bold flavors you’ll actually want to eat. No gums, no fillers, no processed oils — just real dairy you can feel good about.

Our mission is simple: help you think beyond the tub and inspire more creativity in your kitchen. Cottage cheese deserves the spotlight, and we’re here to make sure it shines — whether you’re entertaining, snacking, or just cooking up something new!
